|
|
I'm a big follower of the Bollinger Bands, but I have only one
problem with them; if the market is in a trend or starting a trend, the
signal gets me in as it exceded the top or bottom of the band with a slight
pull back, but it then resumes the same direction and I get stopped
out before my profit target it hit. This may happen 2 or 3 times in row.
I understand this is a trend fading strategy and have very modest targets depending on the time frame I am trading. On the YM I look for a 5 point target with a stop loss of 12 on the 3 min. candles.

|

I'm sorry, I couldn't get a window shot of what I'm about to describe. This is a very condensed time frame to make the example, but I have had it happen many times in all other time frames:
ES Symbol
89Tick
5/24/07
9:14 am Long @ 1545.50
9:32 am Stop Loss of 2 pts @ 1543.50
9:39 am Long @ 1543.25
9:40 am Stop Loss of 2 pts @ 1541.25
My BB settings are 20, 2, -2
Sometimes there are 3 losing trades in a row. My profit target is 3 pts. I keep the ratio of 3:2 (profit/stoploss).
I have added Stochastics to screen out some of the losing trades. and only enter the trade when Stochastics is crossed and changing directions in the overbought or oversold condition.
What else can I do to help avoid these situations? Thank you for your help.[/quote] |

Still trying to get a handle on this. Is that a bar chart of the e-mini you are using with 89 ticks per bar?
